I have been going to Walt Disney World since 1976. I now live 15 minutes from the parks. I am telling you this not to brag but because it means I have had roughly 50 years to figure out what actually matters in a park bag and what is just clutter. This is the list I have landed on.
There is no shortage of Disney packing lists on the internet. Most of them were written by someone who went once, panicked, and brought everything including a portable blender. This is not that list. This is the stuff I reach for without thinking about it, the stuff I quietly hand to friends when they show up unprepared, and the stuff I would feel genuinely bad about not mentioning.
I have organized it by category so you can skip straight to whatever you actually need.
Sun and Skin

Florida UV is not playing around, and most sunscreens make me feel like I'm wearing a coating of something unpleasant for the rest of the day. This one goes on smooth, absorbs fast, and does not feel tacky or sticky even in the heat. I reach for it every single day.

This one pulls triple duty: moisturizer, sunscreen, and foundation all in one. As I have gotten older, most foundations start settling into fine lines by noon. This one does not do that. It also has some kind of magic in it that adjusts to your skin tone naturally, so there is no shade matching involved. You just put it on and look like a person. At a Florida park in July, that is genuinely impressive.

The Florida sky will turn on you. Every afternoon in summer, usually around 3pm, the clouds build and things get wet fast. Plan for it.
Mini Travel Umbrella
This one works for both rain and UV, which makes it more useful than a poncho on a sunny-but-threatening day. It is compact enough to fit in a Loungefly or small backpack. One tip: when you go through security, take it out and hold it in front of you rather than leaving it in the bag. They usually wave you right through without sending you to the bag check lane. I have been doing this for years.

Keep a couple in the bottom of your bag from May through September and forget about them until you need them. They are cheap, they pack to nothing, and the relief of pulling one out when it starts pouring and everyone around you is scrambling is deeply satisfying.

Your phone is your park ticket, your Genie+ reservations, your mobile order, and your camera. Running out of battery is not an option. FuelRods solve this in a way that a regular power bank does not, because you never have to remember to recharge it. When it runs out, you just find a kiosk and swap it out for a fully charged one. There are kiosks in all four parks and at the on-property resorts. It is one of those things that feels almost too convenient to be real, but it genuinely works that way.

Here is something a lot of people do not know: almost every quick service location at Disney will give you a cup of free ice water if you ask. You do not need to buy anything. So pack a collapsible bottle, skip the bottle fillers (which are rarely as cold as you want), and just ask for ice water at the counter. This bottle collapses flat when empty so it barely takes up any space.

This one is more of a hotel rec than a park rec, but it belongs on the list. If you are staying at a value or moderate resort where the room doors face outside, the noise level in the morning can be significant. Families with early risers, housekeeping carts, doors opening and closing. A small white noise machine fixes this entirely and travels well. Worth every penny for a good night's sleep before a long park day.

They are lightweight enough to pack without taking over your suitcase, they go in the washing machine after a long day, and they hold up through the kind of mileage you put on at a theme park. They are cool, they dry fast if they get wet, and the side pockets actually hold a phone securely. They have become my summer park uniform. For cooler months or when the skort is not the right vibe. These do not roll down, the phone pockets are actually functional, and the price is reasonable compared to most athleisure. I have worn these on park days, travel days, and basically every other day.

If you are wearing a skirt or dress without built-in shorts, these are non-negotiable. No chafing, and no worrying about awkward positions on rides. I wear them under skirts constantly at the parks. I like them because they are genuinely good quality with 100% UV protection, but they are not so expensive that losing them at the park would ruin my day. That is the sweet spot for Disney sunglasses. Good enough to want to wear, not precious enough to stress about.
